PLANT OF THE MONTH -Japanese Maples

Varieties of Acer palmatum  are small deciduous trees which have hand-shaped leaves,  often finely cut,  in green, yellow, purples  and various shades of red. In autumn they give a spectacular display as their leaves change colour to orange, bronze and fiery reds. They need an acid soil and make good subjects for containers where they can be grown in ericaceous compost.  Some shade from bright sun is beneficial especially for the yellow leaved types to protect them from burning. These little trees are a lovely addition to any garden especially ones with a Japanese theme. Here at Summerhill we have large range for you to choose from.

Customer Comments

“On my way back to Cheshire called in for a quick look, not possible a truely amazing Garden Centre; the best I have visited. Obviously I bought some plants, but would need a trailer to do justice to your plants”
