We are looking for someone to join our well-established Patio and Yard Area team. These departments stock large pots, gravel, rockery stones, compost, bird baths, statues & stepping stones.

| 1 day off in the week, every week | Bank holidays will be paid at an overtime rate of 1.5 x basic. |

| Winter working hours (27th December until the end of February) are: 8:45am – 4pm on Saturdays & Bank Holidays and 9.45am – 4pm on Sundays. Working hours for the remainder of the year are: 8.45am – 5pm on Saturdays & Bank Holidays and 9.45am – 4pm on Sundays. Early starts and late finishes may be required, depending on the needs of the business. | |
If you are successful through our interview and skills test process, you will be:
- serving customers
- pulling trollies, lifting, carrying, loading and unloading stock across all departments of the Garden Centre
- loading customer vehicles and Summerhill delivery vehicles with Garden Centre products
- reading and writing loading tickets, receipts and delivery notes
- ensuring the displays of stock are always kept topped up, well-presented and tidy
- keeping on top of customer trollies by bringing them from the car park to the retail areas
- taking part in general housekeeping activities including cleaning, sweeping and ground maintenance
- helping out in other departments as and when required.
It is essential that you:
- are able to thrive in a busy and fast-moving environment
- are flexible and enthusiastic to work in all areas of the garden centre as required
- can work a weekend rota
- have good attention to detail
- enjoy working outside in all weathers
- can work on your own, at times, whilst regularly communicating with your team
- are able to carry out physical lifting and loading tasks for much of the day. Heavy Lifting Safety Training is part of the induction. This job role is very physically demanding.

- enjoy working as part of a highly motivated team.
Ideally, candidates will have retail experience but this is not essential.
After a 3-month probation period, the successful candidate will be offered a permanent Contract of Employment with Summerhill Garden Centre.
We will issue you with a uniform and safety footwear that you’ll be expected to wear at all times.
Holiday Restriction Times:
April, May and June, Bank Holidays, Sale Day (27th December)
You will be required to work a 6-day week during the holiday restriction times.
